Summer Suncare

We hope everyone is enjoying the current heatwave as much as we are. Temperatures are set to soar this week into the late 20's!! While it's great to get out into the sun, please use sun care to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

We have a huge selection of sun cream in store including Vichy (receive a free After-sun with purchase once stocks last), P20, Parasol, Ambre Solaire and Nivea. Across all brands, we have products suitable for both adults and children. We also have travel size Ambre Solaire and Nivea SPF 50, which are perfect for when you are out with the little ones or for creche.

Our Top Tips for Staying Sun Safe
  • Sun Cream is your best friend: We cannot stress the importance of using suncream in this weather. It'll keep your skin protected and help prevent burning. It is also a crucial step in preventing skin cancer. In store, we have SPF10 up to SPF 50. We would always recommend at least SPF20 for adults and SPF 50 for children. Children's skin can be a lot more sensitive and prone to burning. Remember to apply sun cream at least twenty minutes before going out and top up regularly, especially if you are in and out of the pool when away.
  • Stay covered up: It is important that you dress to protect while going in the sun. Some clothes are better than others in offering sun protection. When it's extremely hot, please keep areas most exposed (e.g shoulders, chest) covered to help prevent burning.  Always wear a hat and sunglasses.
  • Keep an eye on the time: The sun is always hottest between 10 am and 4 pm so where possible keep in the shade to limit your time in direct sunlight.
  • Keep Hydrated: The heat from the sun can make you dehydrated. Always keep water with you to drink. If you do get heat exhaustion or heat stroke, the main thing is to rest, drink plenty of fluids (water with dioralyte is best) and have a cool shower.
  • Store After Sun in the fridge: Anita does this all the time when on holidays. The cooling effect helps relieve the sting from sunburn. You can use After sun or Aloe Vera Gel, both will help with sunburn but Aloe Vera will be better for healing.
