This week is AMD Awareness Week (age related macular degeneration) in Callagy's Pharmacy. What is AMD? AMD is the leading cause of blindness in Ireland. Symptoms can go unrecognised so it is really important people over the age of 50 get their eyes tested regularly so that if there are any signs of AMD, it can be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. Early Symptoms The most common symptom is slightly blurry vision. Wavy lines or a blind spot in the centre of the field of vision are other symptoms.  Types Dry: This is the most common form of the condition and develops slowly, eventually leading to loss of central vision. As of yet, there is no proven treatment for dry AMD. Wet: This is caused by leaky blood vessels inside the eye. It is less common then dry AMD but it can cause more rapid vision loss. Last week, we finally received our delivery of some new Bronx products.  Metallic Eye shadow (€7.60) are highly pigmented cream eye shadows that will not budge after application. We have colours ranging from browns and blacks aswell as purple and blue. al have a hint of glitter in them too. Lip Paint (€7.65) are again highly pigmented and the perfect match if your looking for a lip stick that will stay put and not dry lips out. Available in a range of colours, our favourite so fair is a lovely pink nude shade. We have testers available in both products, why not call in and try them for yourself. You're sure to love them.

Colic can be one of those things that make you baby really uncomfortable and have you tired and feeling unable to help them. If you unsure if your baby has colic, here are some symptoms to watch out for.   Intense crying episodes Crying in the late afternoon or evening that lasts several hours Your baby's face being red and flushed when they cry. Your baby clenching their fists, drawing their knees up to their tummy, or arching their back while crying.  We have a few products in store that can help ease colic. A while ago, we received some new products from the makeup Brand Bronx. A new brand to Ireland that is sure to become very popular. You'll already know that here at Callagy's Pharmacy, we love self tan. So we decided to add our 18th range to the shop. Choosing a new self tan was difficult with so many available but we finally choose the new Irish tan: Iconic Bronze. The tans have a fruity floral fragrance so there is no bad smell.It is enriched with sunflower oil and Omega 6 & 9, Iconic Bronze contains the perfect, unique blend of ingredients to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and deeply nourished. We have the tanning lotion in medium and dark (12euro) and develops in 1 to 3 hours.  We also have the tanning mouse in medium and dark (14euro) which develops in 2 to 6 hours.
