Help With Chickenpox
We have had quite a few people in over the last few weeks looking for help with chickenpox. This is a common illness children can get and usually once one child has it, it will be picked up by other children they see on a regular basis. It causes a rash of red, itchy spots that turn into fluid-filled blisters. They then crust over to form scabs, which eventually drop off. They are contagious until the scabs are crusted over so it's important to keep children home from school/nursery. Chickenpox is most infectious from one to two days before the rash starts, until all the blisters have crusted over (usually five to six days after the start of the rash). Most will go on their own but if the blisters on their skin become infected or if your child has a pain in their chest or has difficulty breathing contact your GP Some children may only get a few spots, while others can get them all over their body.
